A special night to feel the vibe of Ron Wood 50 years after his first album

Last September 19 marked the 50th anniversary of the release of “I’ve got my own album to do”, Ronnie Wood’s first solo album and one of the most valued works by rock and roll fans.

The material, which was recorded in the musician’s mansion in Richmond Hill, known as The Wick, was carried out just prior to what was his entry into The Rolling Stones as a replacement for Mick Taylor on guitar and also for the separation of The Faces, the band he formed with Rod Stewart and part of the Small Faces and with which he released four studio albums.

The material did not score any hits in its twelve songs, but it achieved something of great timeless value: having Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and George Harrison as guest composers and performers. Two members of The Rolling Stones and one of The Beatles on the same album, in 1974.

That cult work continues to be today, 50 years later, not only a founding part of what was an internal turn in rock and roll as a proposal, from a more soulful approach, but also, like everything that is related to universe of the language band, also had a deep impact in Argentina.

This is why Paco Gallardo and Pil Del Villar made the decision to generate a local show, as a celebration, in which they will not only review the album in its entirety but will do so through a series of guests who are historical references. of the genre and other new promises as well as other musicians from various scenes who also feel crossed by the figure of Ronnie Wood.

“It’s the first British album that really has something that you can say is worthy of Memphis. He was a pioneer in that. He brought a soul from the 70s to the Stones,” Paco, creator of Exile Records and owner of CC Richards, the boutique space where a celebratory show will be held this Thursday from 9 p.m., tells this medium.

And in line with the importance of the material, he assures that “what also occurs on that album is the alchemy between Ronnie and Richards. Something that was marked from then on, as if they would need each other until the rest of their days. Like two complementary artists.”

And he adds that Wood “is the endurance of rock and roll. He continued paying tributes to the greats even when the Stones were separated. He has a sincere love for the cosmic culture of American rock and roll being a Brit. He maintains a very high positive vibe.”

For this Thursday night, artists such as Pablo Memi, bassist of Ratones Paranoicos, will perform; Goyo and Iñaki, from Bándalos Chinos; Ike Parodi, El Chacal and Nico Yudchak, Choki, Rulo García & Fernando Goin, Agucci, Lucio Memi, Lola Cobach and Ale Cares, in addition to its two directors.

“There are none of the artists who come by force. I invited them to many things in my life and it was difficult for me to have them, but when I told them that it was because of something about Ronnie, they were all hooked because there is something about the Stones that is dignifying, uniting and spiritual. That’s why this Thursday there is going to be a very high vibe,” highlights Paco.

To carry out the event, Federal beer took the lead as the main sponsor while Honky Tonk will provide t-shirts and special gifts for the musicians.
