The Kansas City Chiefs around star quarterback Patrick Mahomes are catching up with the LA Chargers. But a serious injury to a Chiefs player also shaped the game.
The Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated in the new NFL season. The Super Bowl winner of the last two years won the game against the LA Chargers 17:10 after a 0:10 deficit. It was the fourth win in the fourth game for the team around star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The 29-year-old Mahomes scored a touchdown himself and threw for 245 yards.
Xavier Worthy scored the second touchdown for the Chiefs. Travis Kelce also had a good game. Pop superstar Taylor Swift’s boyfriend caught seven balls for a total of 89 yards. “I’m proud of our boys that they held up so well. It could have been completely different, but the boys supported each other,” said Chiefs coach Andy Reid.
Serious injury to Rice
But the Chiefs also had to cope with a bitter loss in Inglewoood. Their receiver Rashee Rice suffered a serious knee injury in a collision with Mahomes and could now miss the rest of the current season. “I feel for Rashee because he’s had a fantastic year. We hope for the best,” Reid said. The Chiefs want to become the first football team in history to win the Super Bowl three times in a row.
