The pilots of the KAMAZ-master team returned to Moscow after winning the Dakar rally

The pilots of the Russian KAMAZ-master team returned to Moscow on January 16 after a successful performance at the Dakar rally in the truck class.

At the Domodedovo airport, the winners were greeted by dozens of fans and motorsport enthusiasts.

According to the results of the marathon, the KAMAZ-master crews took the first four places in the overall standings of the competition. Dmitry Sotnikov became the leader. The second to finish was the crew of Eduard Nikolaev. The third was the team of Anton Shibalov, the fourth – Andrey Karginov.

The final 12th stage of the rally marathon with a special stage of 164 km and a finish in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia took place on December 14.

According to Sport-Express, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the KAMAZ-master crew on their victory in the Dakar rally marathon.

On November 22, 2021, the winner of the 2020 Baja World Cup, multiple champion of Russia in rally raids Vladimir Vasiliev said that holding the World Rally Raid Championship is a great strengthening for a discipline that has existed for many years. According to him, “Dakar” is always a lot of sand and dunes, while in Russia there are at least somewhat similar conditions only in Astrakhan.

“KAMAZ-master” for the sixth year in a row becomes the winner of the “Dakar”, in total the team has 19 victories.
