He also issued a warning to the president. “Our national legislators, both in the lower and upper chambers, voted for the budget increase law for the public university, and the truth is that vetoing it would be nonsense, and a very serious mistake by the current president”, he noted.

Furthermore, Quintela pointed out that “in the province of La Rioja there are three public universities, the National University of La Rioja (UNLaR); the National University of Chilecito (UNdeC); and the National Technological University (UTN)”.

Strong closing speech of the university march: “If the 2025 Budget is not modified, the continuity of the universities will be at stake”

In a massive march, students and authorities of public national universities demanded more budget to resolve the crisis they are going through. The president of the Argentine University Federation (FUA), Piera Fernandezgave a strong closing speech and warned that if the university budget for 2025 sent by the Government is not modified “The continuity is at stake” of the houses of higher education and the scientific system.

“A budget is above all a declaration of principles. And the one presented (by the Government for 2025) is far from what the country needs,” Fernández accused and then described the worrying situation that the university system is experiencing. “We want to warn you about the seriousness that the problem has. If the project for 2025 is not modified, the situation of the universities and the scientific system will be much more serious than what we are going through today. What will be at stake is its continuity. Neither more nor less than that,” he said.
