The Tyrolean also won the second Klingenthal race yesterday. The 20-year-old world champion, who was crowned double world champion last year, finally got the hang of it in the World Cup. Only a week ago he had celebrated his premiere victory in the highest competition series in Val di Fiemme.
Yesterday Lamparter was ex aequo after jumping with teammate Franz-Josef Rehrl. The latter was beaten by the Estonian Kristjan Ilves in the final sprint and was third on the podium. “A really cool weekend for me, I’m in yellow now (jersey of the overall leader; note). It can definitely continue like this,” said Lamparter.
The great dominator, the Norwegian Jarl Magnus Riiber, skipped the races in Val di Fiemme and in Klingenthal. “Of course Jarl isn’t there. Nevertheless, it’s a great honor that I can wear it,” said the ÖSV young star.
Lamparter now comes to the World Cup triple in Seefeld at the end of January with a hundred points ahead of Riiber. The World Cup in Planica, which was planned for next weekend, has been canceled due to the latest corona developments.
After his cruciate ligament tear and seventh place from the day before, Rehrl managed to take another step back and maybe even make the Olympic team. “I’m very proud of myself, especially with ski jumping,” said the Styrian.
Ski jumping: Tschofenig fifth
Norway’s Marius Lindvik celebrated his fifth World Cup victory in ski jumping in Zakopane ahead of Karl Geiger (D) and Anze Lanisek (Slo). The best Austrian was Daniel Tschofenig, who achieved his best career result to date with fifth place.
“I’m super satisfied. Before the second jump I was brutally nervous at the top,” admitted the Carinthian, who was second at half-time behind Ryoyu Kobayashi (Jpn/fourth place). Another Austrian, Daniel Huber (6th), landed directly behind the 19-year-old. Jan Hörl (8th) and Clemens Aigner (11th) completed a strong ÖSV team result.
