Companies are beginning to consider pets in their employee benefit plans.

People are becoming more aware of their needs and expectations and what they are looking for in an employer. Ensuring their well-being and quality of life, inside and outside of work, are essential factors for workers, and the global trend called Humanimalswhich places pets – increasingly – on the same level as humans, has also reached the workplace. In a social context where individualism prevails, Pets became the most important attachment figures for many people.especially among Millennials and Generation Z.

Various studies carried out in recent years have shown that Argentina is the country with the most pets in the worldat least 80% of households have a pet. In the region, they are followed by: Chile (close to 70%), Mexico (less than 60%), Brazil (with just over 40%) and Colombia (with 35%). Likewise, according to The American Pet Products Association, in the report ‘The Humanization of Pets’ (2019), 9 out of 10 owners consider their pets as part of the family.

This love for animals is reflected in different areas, where work is today perhaps the least permeable to the integration of pets as members of the family. However, this trend is changing: At Flux IT, for some time we have been working on an expanded concept of family, which seeks to include all the bonds of affinity that a person may have, whether between peers, as well as with their pets.”, mention Agustina Chesini, Human Value Specialist at Flux IT.

In recent years, the company has incorporated benefits designed especially to accompany each member of the community and their families, including pets. “Based on information collected in the last year, we detected that many people who are part of our community consider their pets as a fundamental part of their families. That is something that unites us, and reinforces our sense of belonging. That is why we recently increased the care policy of our community, and launched new benefits that seek to help each person improve their quality of life and that of their pets.”, Chesini highlights.

In this sense, in addition to extended leaves and soft landing for maternity and paternityextra day off for birthdays, check-ups and care of each family member, the IT company grants days of leave so that each worker has situations in which they need to accompany their pets. And, as a complementary benefit, they offer a veterinary assistance and counseling service, where specialists provide guidance on different aspects for the best care of pets such as vaccination, animal nutrition, allergies, and much more.

From Flux IT they ensure that the Human Value areas of companies have to focus increasingly on knowing in depth each person who is part of their community, recognizing the individuality of each one, “each collaborator is a unique universe with needs, own tastes and expectations, companies have to invest in tools and processes that allow them to have a deep understanding of the work environment and the uniqueness of each employee,” says the reference.

Likewise, the company highlights that this initiative also motivates solid emotional bonds between the company and its collaborators, a key aspect since they enrich the work experience and establish a solid foundation for mutual success.
