DFB-Elf before Hungary game: Trio is missing from training, Gosens can take part

The game against Portugal left its mark: In addition to Thomas Müller and Ilkay Gündogan, Mats Hummels was also absent from team training on Monday. Robin Gosens was able to participate in the unit.

A use of Thomas Müller in the last European Championship group game of the German national soccer team against Hungary is questionable. The Bayern professional was absent on Monday as well as the also ailing regulars Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gündogan in training. Müller was unable to train in the Adi-Dassler Stadium in Herzogenaurach due to a capsule injury to his knee. After the 4-2 draw against Portugal on Saturday, Hummels had problems with the patellar tendon again. Gündogan had injured his calf.

A report by the “Bild” newspaper about the already established failure of Müller for the game on Wednesday and a possible round of 16 was not confirmed by the DFB. “We have to evaluate this question from day to day with the doctors and trainers.” A failure is possible, but not yet fixed. Federal coach Löw will announce details at the press conference on Tuesday.

Robin Gosens during training

After his comeback in the second half against Portugal (4-2), Leon Goretzka feels ready for a starting line-up. “I would say that I feel in top shape. The tournament can start for me,” said the Bayern professional, who recently had to pause for several weeks due to a torn muscle.

Robin Gosens, who excelled against Portugal, was able to train on Monday despite his adductor problems. Jonas Hofmann, who was last injured in his knee, was also back at the training session. Toni Kroos, on the other hand, completed an individual training shift to control stress.

Since Lukas Klostermann was still missing after his muscle fiber tear, Löw had 18 field players and three goalkeepers in training. Manuel Neuer and Co. joined the practice unit with a soccer tennis tournament. A draw against Hungary is enough for Germany to reach the round of 16.
