The dream player is there: striker Donyell Malen is coming to Dortmund from PSV Eindhoven and will be chasing goals for BVB in the future.
The move from striker Donyell Malen from PSV Eindhoven to Borussia Dortmund is perfect. As BVB announced on Tuesday, the 22-year-old has signed a contract with the DFB Cup winners until 2026.
According to media reports, the fee for painting should be around 30 million euros. The Dutch international’s contract in Eindhoven would have been valid until 2024.
“Borussia Dortmund is a top European club that is always at the top of the Bundesliga and has high demands on itself in the Champions League,” said Malen, explaining his move. “I can hardly wait to be on the pitch with my new team-mates, to compete with the best. And of course I’m looking forward to the fans and the stadium that all of Europe raves about,” he added.
Surprisingly, the transfer of Malens no longer comes, he had been the preferred candidate for the offensive at Borussia for weeks. Since the weekend he has also been at the Dortmund training camp in Bad Ragaz.
Donyell Malen zum BVB: Trained at Ajax and Arsenal
Malen is considered to be the successor to Jadon Sancho, who BVB is handing over to Manchester United for the coming season.
“Donyell is a player with great offensive potential, who exudes scoring danger, brings in his creativity and has a high speed,” said BVB sporting director Michael Zorc. “He can be used in different systems, be it at the top, as the sole striker or as one of two attackers, but also in the outer positions,” reported Sebastian Kehl, head of the licensed players department.
Painting was first trained in the youth of Ajax Amsterdam, then moved to Arsenal at the age of 16. At the age of 18 he returned to the Netherlands and joined PSV, for which he scored 27 goals in 45 competitive games last season.
Malen has played 13 times for the national team so far. He was also in the Oranje squad for the 2021 European Championship and was used in all four tournament games.
