Among the objectives of the project, the drafting of which was drawn up by different blocks of the Senate, the intention to “contribute to the decarbonization processes of the energy and production matrices, promoting the use of low-emission hydrogen“, “encourage the development of the entire low-emission hydrogen value chain”, “promote international competitiveness, adopting high quality standards”.

In that framework, Rodriguez Chirillo He stated that his intention is to “think of a norm, essentially energetic, that regulate a fuel that will govern us for the next few years”. “We have to think about an essentially energy law, which will regulate a fuel and which will govern us for the next few years. We are all looking for green hydrogen, the problem is the difficulty it has. Regarding low emissions, what they intend is to expand the spectrum and be able to take advantage of other types such as pink or gray hydrogen,” he added.
Another of those present was Amador Sánchez Rico, ambassador of the European Union in Argentina, who considered that “hydrogen is one of the most transformative and visionary initiatives in the field of global energy” and highlighted “Argentina’s potential for the production of green and renewable hydrogen, which is a reality.”
Ignacio Torres: “It would be a shame to lose a historic opportunity”
During the debate in Deputies, the governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torrespointed out that at the moment “there is no regulatory framework because there is no demand,” but that “Today Argentina is a pioneer in the world in terms of green hydrogen and it would be a shame to lose a historic opportunity to be on point with a friendly regulatory framework, which does not imply an exorbitant fiscal cost but rather embodies what the RIGI proposes, but goes beyond what we propose as a State policy, understanding that we have comparative advantages that are truly important.”
In that sense, he listed that “We have an extension of land, which is a problem that Europe has; we have the best wind performance in the world; we have deep water”. “There is an opportunity, a project that has the signature of all the blocks, that the Executive can make its own and propose the necessary modifications, but we have to be able to get out of those dilemmas and inconducive proposals to move forward and show the world that Argentina can be at the forefront regarding green hydrogen,” he added.
“Look at it from a utilitarian point of view: We are talking about billions of dollars that Argentina needs”, stated the president and maintained that “the only thing we have to do is agree; move forward with a unified opinion, listen to those who know.”
