Alexander Nübel and Oliver Baumann will most likely each get a game in the Nations League. The Stuttgarter can make the start.
Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel is scheduled to make his debut for the German national soccer team on Friday (8:45 p.m./RTL) in Bosnia-Herzegovina. “I’m really looking forward to it. (…) I’ve let my parents know. Pure anticipation now for Friday evening,” said the 28-year-old from VfB Stuttgart on RTL. After the loss of Marc-André ter Stegen, who will be out for months with a serious knee injury, it was still unclear whether Nübel or Oliver Baumann would be in goal in Zenica.
Baumann (34) will most likely play his first international match next Monday in Munich against the Netherlands. National coach Julian Nagelsmann had promised the TSG Hoffenheim professional a debut: “Olli deserves to get an international match. That will be the case,” Nagelsmann said. Janis Blaswich (33) from Red Bull Salzburg is the third goalkeeper in the squad.
