Of the total number of people affected by events of domestic violence reported to the Office of Domestic Violence (OVD) in 2023, 1 in 5 was a girl or adolescent woman.
Regarding these complaints and during the past year, 2,799 girls and adolescent women (0 to 17 years old) were affected by situations of domestic violence.
The figure represents an average of 8 girls and adolescent women per day. The frequency of the reported episodes of violence was daily or weekly in 57% of the cases and The risk of these girls and adolescents was evaluated as very high or high in 40% of them.
The average age of these girls was 9 years. The OVD medical team found injuries in 63 girls. Among them, 87% were under 15 years old.
Reported parents, mistreatment and abuse
According to the Court, in the total universe of these cases, 8 out of every 10 people reported were their parents (of them: 68% fathers and 32% mothers).
In addition, 90% of affected girls aged 14 or younger suffered psychological or emotional abuse, 30% physical abuse, and 10% sexual abuse.
Among adolescent girls aged 15 to 17, 1 in 10 reported their partners or ex-partners, all of whom were male. In turn, 42% were victims of physical violence (mostly by their parents)while 19% of these adolescents experienced sexual abuse (mostly -70%- by non-relatives or relatives up to the 4th degree of relationship).
In this same group of affected adolescents, 12 had children; 7 reported acts of violence in its digital form; 5 were pregnant, and 3 reported their cohabiting partners.

24-hour Domestic Violence Office
The Domestic Violence Office is a department of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, which operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year, at Lavalle 1250, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
Professionals from law, psychology, social work and medicine make up interdisciplinary teams that receive complaints about situations of domestic violence in the City of Buenos Aires, based on the stories of the affected people and/or third parties. , they draw up a report, evaluate the level of risk and prepare a medical report if it is necessary to verify injuries.
Once the interview is completed and the corresponding referral (judicial and non-judicial) has been made, the OVD monitors the judicial activity carried out from the receipt of the complaint.
