The norm, sanctioned by Congress in October, was published this Friday in the Official Gazette and modifies various articles of Law No. 19,945, contemplating key aspects such as the registration and officialization of candidates, the design and content of the Single Ballot and the rules for its implementation and use in primary, general and Mercosur Parliament elections.

Law 27781 single paper ballot
The Single Paper Ballot will be organized in horizontal stripes that will distinguish the categories of elective positions and in vertical columns for the different political groups, with the names, symbols and photographs of the candidates. Among other innovations, the ballot will not include the option to vote by complete list, encouraging the individual selection of each category of candidates.
The promulgation of this law was carried out through Decree 915/2024 and will be issued for publication in the Official Gazettel. With this measure, the Executive Branch seeks to modernize the Argentine electoral system and promote transparency in national elections.
