The news was announced at a press conference by the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, who stated regarding the privatizations that “both will be used for the 5G service.”


“The national government decided to expand the offer in the telecommunications sector. In this way, a series of measures will be implemented to encourage greater competition in the sector. Aiming for more competition, better service and lower price,” the spokesperson said.
Along these lines, the official explained what the process will be like: “The Government is going to make available the 100 megahertz of spectrum that the State reserved for Arsat for mobile communications and is not using. In addition, the 50 megahertz that is in the hands of Enacom. These frequency bands will be used in 5G services“.
On the other hand, Exemptions from the Value Added Tax of the tax law for newspapers, magazines and periodicals will be eliminatedas well as subscriptions to digital journalistic editions of online information.
“They will begin to pay VAT without any advantage over the rest of the economic actors. This measure will increase collection by 264 billion pesos“concluded Adorni.
