Forward “Washington Capitals” Russian Alexander Ovechkin topped the list of top scorers in the NHL season 2021/22. This was reported on January 19 by the Sport-Express newspaper.
After the NHL regular season match against Winnipeg (4:3 OT), the Russian scored 55 (27+28) points. Thus, he was ahead of Edmonton forward Leon Draisaitl, who has 54 (26+28) points.
In third place is Connor McDavid (Edmonton): he has 53 points (19 + 34). He is followed by Jonathan Huberdeau (Florida, 53 (15+38) points) and Nazem Kadri (Colorado), who scored 49 (14+35) points.
Now Ovechkin is single-handedly 24th in NHL history for this indicator. The Russian scored 1,375 points in 1,237 games and outscored Mike Modano with 1,374 points in 1,499 games.
Earlier, on January 17, Canadian journalist Mike McIntyre called the Russian striker a miracle of nature. The journalist wrote that he considers Ovechkin one of the most gifted athletes in history.
