MSU Green Energy and Casa Fuentes signed a renewable energy supply agreement

Casa Fuentes will begin to receive solar energy from MSU Green Energy starting in November, allowing it to cover up to 100% of its energy demand with renewable energy.

MSU Green Energyleader in the solar energy sector, and Fuentes Housepart of the Finlays Group in Argentina, a global leader in the supply of tea, coffee and natural ingredients for the industry, announced this Wednesday the signing of a long-term renewable energy supply agreement.

Casa Fuentes will begin receiving solar energy from MSU Green Energy starting in Novemberallowing it to cover up to 100% of its energy demand with renewable energy, marking notable progress in the integration of this type of energy in the company’s operations in the country.

The energy will be generated from the Pampa del Infierno solar park, located in the province of Chaco, which was recently inaugurated.. It is the solar park with the highest capacity in the country to supply energy to industries, with an installed power of 130 MW. The agreement, which is carried out within the framework of the Renewable Energy Terms Market (MATER), will allow the production plants of Tabay, Acaragua and Campo Grande, located in the province of Misiones, to be supplied.

A step towards a sustainable future

This agreement underlines the commitment of both organizations to the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. By incorporating solar energy as a source of supply, Casa Fuentes strengthens its carbon emissions reduction strategy, allowing it to avoid the emission of 13,800 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere throughout the life of the agreement.

Finlays is aligned to the Science Based Targets initiative. SBTI is a collaboration between the CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute and the World Wildlife Fund, it is a great ally of companies to complete the transition towards a low-carbon economy with guarantees of success for us, for the planet and for society, committed to limiting the increase in the Earth’s temperature to less than 1.5 0C compared to the pre-industrial era, such as established by the Paris Agreement.

“Our global objectives were validated by SBTI taking the year 2022 as a baseline, at Casa Fuentes we implement action plans, the signing of this agreement for the supply of renewable energy is a fundamental step in our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint in scope 2 estimating an annual reduction of 2,300 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, aligned with our main objective is to reach Net Zero by 2040 in this way we protect the planet and safeguard the production of our raw materials” , they concluded.
