Two goals from Robert Lewandowski put FC Barcelona on track against Real Madrid. Coach Hansi Flick experienced a fantastic evening of football with a clear away win.
Thanks to a brace from star striker Robert Lewandowski, Hansi Flick celebrated a brilliant 4-0 (0-0) win at Real Madrid in his first Clásico as coach of FC Barcelona. The former FC Bayern attacker scored in the 54th and 56th minutes for Barça, who as leaders of the Primera División are now six points ahead of the Spanish football record champions. For the 36-year-old Lewandowski it was the first goals in a league game against Real. Lamine Yamal (77′) and Rafinha (84′) made the debacle perfect for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
Lewandowski shocked the Royal fans within 141 seconds after the break. First he scored low from the edge of the penalty area to take the lead after Real’s Ferland Mendy had canceled out a possible offside position. The Polish international striker then perfectly headed a cross from Alejandro Balde to make it 2-0.
Mbappé’s goals don’t count
Real Madrid’s star striker Kylian Mbappé also caused the opposing net to wobble twice, but he was always offside. The supposed goals justifiably didn’t count.
While Lewandowski missed further great opportunities for a hat trick twice, including because he put the ball on the post of the half-orphaned Real goal from ten meters, young stars Yamal and Rafinha continued to build on the result.
A few days after the no less impressive 4-1 win in the Champions League against former club FC Bayern, Flick celebrated his next prestigious victory. For Real it was also their first league defeat after 42 unbeaten games.
