According to him Monitor of Exports of Regional Economies (MEER) prepared by the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME), September ended with an increase in the exports of the regional economies of the 29.1% in dollars and 26.5% in tons, which represents an interannual increase of US$1,948.8 million in the total exported and 1.5 million tons in the volume sold. The average export price of the Argentine regional economies was US$1,230.
The sector thus demonstrates a great recovery powerafter having suffered three consecutive droughts and early frosts that affected production levels.
Furthermore, during the period analyzed, there was high volatility in international prices, as well as the opening of new markets to sell the various products of the regional economies.
With this increase, regional exports reached US$8,649 million exported in the period October 2023-September 2024, having imported US$791 million, which gives a trade surplus of US$7,858 million.

Exports of regional economies: analysis by complex in dollars
- Sugar complex: During the period October 2023-September 2024, the sugar complex registered a growth of 329.7%, reaching US$255.6 million exported. The main export destinations of this complex were the United States (US$140.1 million), Chile (US$76.7 million) and Canada (US$21.9 million), that is, these three countries accounted for 93. 4% of the complex’s operations.
- Cotton complex: The second complex with the greatest growth was cotton, reaching US$206.5 million and an increase of 269.6%. The main destinations of this complex were Pakistan (US$64.8 million), Vietnam (US$54.4 million) and China (US$38.9 million), concentrating 76.6% of the operations.
- Cotton complex: The complex with the greatest growth in volume is cotton, which exported a total of 168,625 tons during the period October 2023-September 2024, which represents an increase of 296.8% compared to the same period of the previous year (2022-2023 ). The average price per ton of this complex was US$1,224.4, presenting a drop in the export price of 6.8%.
- Sugar complex: The second complex with the greatest growth in volume is the sugar industry, having reached 339,526 tons exported and representing 184.8% more than the same previous period (October 2022-September 2023). The price/ton ratio increased 50.8%, establishing an average price of US$752.7 and positioning it as the complex with the greatest growth in this section.
Exports of regional economies: the regional analysis
In this section, a regionalized study of the data obtained is carried out. It should be noted that for this purpose the tax domicile was taken as a parameter to determine the location of the producer/company/industry that carried out the export.
Buenos Aires+CABA: It is the main exporting region of the country, representing 50.6% of the total exported in dollars by the regional economies. In the period analyzed, Buenos Aires and CABA had export revenues of USD 4,375.5 million, which represents a year-on-year increase of 32.2% in exported dollars. Thus, it is the region with the greatest growth in this aspect.
The most representative complex in its exports was porcine and goathaving sold USD 433.6 million, that is, 9.9% of the total exported by the region.
Center: The region comprised of the provinces of Córdoba, Entre Ríos and Santa Fe exported USD 1,649.6 million, 19.1% of the country’s foreign sales. Córdoba, with USD 773.4 million, was the province that exported the most. Compared with the same period of the previous year, the region’s international trade marked an increase of 31.6%.
The complex manisero was the most representative, having sold for a total of USD 953.8 million, which represented 57.8% of the total exported by the region.
