Podiatrist’s Day in Argentina: why November 3?
Two years after podiatry was recognized through the American Medical Association (AMA), in the conference room of the newspaper Crítica, in Buenos Aires, a group of professionals laid the foundations of the Argentine League of Pedicurists. In this way, on November 3, 1937, 35 pedicurists shaped the entity.
The purposes were to be recognized as medical assistants and also to create a university school. This league was not only the first to represent podiatrists throughout the country but also in South America. Thanks to his efforts, in 1949, at the Children’s Hospital of La Plata, the Official School of Pedicures began to teach its courses.

According to Dr. Cormillot and Eduardo Cagniacci, who is the director of the University School of Podiatry at the University of Buenos Aires, there are 5 golden tips for taking care of your feet, which are the following:
- Cut nails straight to reduce the possibility of ingrown nails.
- Do not use abrasive stones because they can hurt and also stimulate the callus to grow more in the future.
- Use of creams: make sure there are no residues between the fingers because fungus can form.
- Do not walk for long periods in high heels.
