DFB Cup
Top duel between Bayern and Bayer in the round of 16
The draw has decided: the record winners and cup defenders will meet in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup. There are also two more Bundesliga duels. Third division team Bielefeld has a home game.
In the round of 16 of the DFB Cup there will be a top duel between record winners FC Bayern Munich and double winners Bayer Leverkusen. This was the result of the draw on ARD by EM saxophonist André Schnura and DFB sports director Rudi Völler.
“We have of course been drawn the absolute top opponent in FC Bayern. This is the top game of the round of 16 that all of Germany will be looking forward to,” said Bayer’s sports director Simon Rolfes in an initial reaction: “We do it ourselves “That too and will go to Munich in December to reach the quarter-finals.”
This means that in the round of the last 16 teams between the leaders of the Bundesliga and the German champions and cup defenders, there will be a repeat of the 2020 cup final, which Bayern won. Match dates are December 3rd and 4th.
The two-time cup winner and Bundesliga runner-up RB Leipzig has a home game against third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt. VfL Wolfsburg and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim meet in another Bundesliga duel. The only third division team remaining in the competition, Arminia Bielefeld, welcomes SC Freiburg, sixth in the Bundesliga.
