Backwards over the opponent: NFL star with a crazy jump
Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles have been a good fit so far. The NFL professional has two touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars. But in the end everyone talks about another scene of his.
Sometimes NFL players become hurdlers and jump over their opponents – but the league has never seen a scene like that of football star Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles. In the 28:23 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the 27-year-old was outstanding, and not just because of his two touchdowns. But also because he jumped over his 1.83 meter tall opponent Jarrian Jones – backwards.
Four steps earlier he had shaken off an opponent with a 360-degree turn. In total there were three Jaguars professionals who couldn’t get hold of him.
Fans and pundits on US television went wild and compared the scene to a video game. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni also couldn’t believe his eyes. “That was the best thing I’ve ever seen,” he said. “It’s so cool that kids in Philadelphia and all over the country will now try to recreate this and talk about it. But they won’t be able to do it. He’s the only one in the world who can do it.”
