In a meeting held at the facilities of the Torquato Tasso social club, in San Telmo, the businessman Miguel Jimenezwhich competes against the formula of Diego Milito and Hernán Lacunza, and that of the ruling party, presented this afternoon the trinomial with which he will lead his candidacy for the presidency of Racing (along with Hernán Sormani and Julia Romano). Before a large presence of members and journalists, the former vice president of the Academy highlighted his objectives.
“Our trinomial is made up of three people who are life members of Racing, men and women, lifelong Racing fans. They cannot show that on the other lists,” the candidate emphasized.
Meanwhile, the former vice president of the institution was manifestly against the privatization of football: “We are clear that the club belongs to the members and that the only owner of the club is and must continue to be the members. The statute supports us before “any maneuver that goes the other way.”
”To Racing fans many years ago they wanted to sell us that this was the way to solve the problems, and we are witness proof of what the management did in our club, an absolute disaster that took years to solve. Racing partners are not going to kick the same stone twice,” Jiménez insisted.
His message made a strong emphasis: “Our group is called Unidos por Racing and I highlight at this time the value of the word unity. Our limit exists, because it must exist. That limit is NO to SAD. We say it clearly”.
“We want to form a board of directors with everyone on board. The only limit is NO to SAD. I think Diego (Milito) is on the same path as me, although I don’t know who accompanies him. I have a mature and formal relationship with Diego, we worked together for 8 years at the club, winning titles. It was Diego who asked me during his time as a player not to separate myself from the professional team for a moment,” Jiménez recalled.
“I had conversations with both fronts to achieve unity, and I am not going to stop until we achieve it. It is the best thing that can happen to Racing, a complete unit list. I proposed it to people from Blanco and to Diego himself. “We would give the club a leap in quality,” he wished.

We told the same thing to the members and fans of the western zone, who joined us their concerns and opinions about the Racing that we have to build together.”
And he added: “The differences are not insurmountable. First is the club shield. If we unite, we strengthen the club, it is what people are waiting for. They have to understand it”.
Regarding what he would do with Milito if he won the elections, he expressed that “the next day he would be inside the club”, at the same time that he alleged that he does not feel comfortable that the three contenders, once part of the entity, face each other in the commissions. “If I win, I’m going to want Milito with me and people from the current commission, too. The only thing I don’t accept are the SAD,” he explained.
”When I came to the board of directors, my role was professional football and it didn’t go that badly: we won 5 titles in 8 years. “We supported Racing in international tournaments, something that did not happen,” he yearned about his management, while recalling that “many of the players who are on the squad were brought by me. Roger Martínez (it was my wish that he return), Agustín Almendra (with whom I spent 3 months talking when he broke up with Boca), Juanfer Quinteros (which was another long negotiation), Carbonero, and others who gave the team a leap in hierarchy ”.
“Members are the main recipient of our efforts as leaders. They are the owners and guardians of the club. Decisions must have your endorsement. Among other things, that is why I left the club, because of the personalistic ways, because I was not involved in fundamental decisions,” Jiménez alleged.
Finally, he already announced that part of his management will focus on the works in the stadium as well as in the headquarters, while asking that “national politics not get involved in the club.”
The elections to decide who will be the next president of Racing will take place on December 15 at the Presidente Perón stadium.
