Stellantis plans to increase production at the Palomar plant by 9%

After the decline in car sales in the first part of the year, 2024 is closing with an increase in activity. The last three months show growth compared to 2023 and November and December are expected to continue with that trend.

On the side of the production, The situation is different since not all terminals expect a recovery in activity. In most cases it is due to issues that have more to do with the performance of the product they manufacture than macroeconomic issues. In this palette of problems, there are a variety of solutions. Some are facing the situation with personnel adjustment, others with the future industrial disaffection of some model and there is also one that has a factory uprising as an option.

It is clear that business decisions (good or bad) define the fate of a company and not everything can be attributed to the context in which they are managed.

If it were not so, it would not be explained that While some automakers have an uncertain outlook, others plan for 2025 with an increase in production. All in the same country.

For example, one of the terminals that plans to increase vehicle manufacturing is Toyota, as Ámbito reported days ago. In this case, the causes of this expansion have to do with the prospect of improvement in the domestic market and a recovery in exports.

Added to this are the plans for increase activity at the Stellantis plant located in El Palomar, where Peugeot and Citroën models are produced.

This automaker expects to end the year with 72,224 units produced, while for 2025 the projected for the 12 months is 78,958. This implies a global growth of 9% in production. It is always good to clarify that these plans are reviewed periodically and may change, but this is what that terminal has planned today.

This volume arises, mainly, from the increase in the manufacturing of the 2008 SUV that began to be marketed this year. By 2024, Stellantis estimates reaching 18,043 units manufactured and rising to 33,190 in 2025.

Meanwhile, according to data contained in an internal report from the automaker, the 208 model will go from 48,091 this year to 39,020 for next year. In this case there is a reduction in volume that is compensated by a greater increase in 2008.

Another piece of information from Stellantis’ production plan for 2025 is that the Peugeot Partner and Citroën Berlingo utility vehicles will continue to be manufactured, as stated in the industrial schedule managed by the automaker.

In the case of the Partner, the planned production volume between January and December 2025 is 3,410 units, while 3,338 vehicles will be made for the Berlingo. These are two models with a long history in the local market.
