The 2025/2026 Bundesliga season starts on August 22nd
The framework calendar for the 2025/2026 football season has been set. The German champion will be crowned by mid-May 2026 at the latest.
The Bundesliga starts the 2025/2026 season on August 22nd next year. This emerges from the calendar of events approved by the Presidium of the German Football Association (DFB) in Frankfurt am Main. The 34th matchday in the upper house will take place on May 16th, 2026. The last matchday before the winter break will take place from December 19th to 21st, 2025.
The final of the DFB Cup will be played in Berlin on May 23, 2026. The first round of the cup is scheduled for August 15th to August 18th, which is, as usual, a week before the first matchday in the Bundesliga. In addition, the champions and the cup winners of the current season will play for the Supercup of the German Football League (DFL) on August 16th. Both teams will therefore enter the DFB Cup later – on August 26th and 27th.
As in previous years, the season for the two-tier football teams starts a little earlier this time. The opening game takes place on August 1st. The 3rd league starts its season in the same week. While the second division season ends on May 17th, the last third division matchday is scheduled for May 16th.
