The Argentine national team of rugby, The Pumasdefeated this afternoon 50-18 Italyat the Stadio Friuli in Udine, within the framework of its premiere corresponding to the November window.
The Pumas dominated the match from the beginning, with a solid performance in both attack and defense. Argentina opened the scoring quickly with a penalty from Tomás Albornoz after four minutes, followed by multiple tries throughout the match.
Even so, those led by Gonzalo Quesada managed to settle into the rival field and dominate possession of the ball, but managed to be neutralized from the tackles and rucks.
Although, at first, it was a match of constant back and forth, those led by Felipe Contepomi were the ones who took advantage of their rival’s defensive errors, added to the great pressure they exerted on the “Azurri”.
On the Italian side, the local team was able to respond with a penalty try in the first half, after an infringement by Juan Martín González, which cost him a yellow card, centimeters from the goal.
In any case, the home team was unable to match the offensive power of Los Pumas and, although Tommaso Allan converted a penalty for Italy, they were still 17-10 behind on the scoreboard, Argentina continued to dominate in the second half.
Italy scored a second try near the end, insufficient to reverse the final result. Matías Alemanno and Bautista Delguy were the ones who finished stretching the advantage over their rival.
Other notable scorers for Argentina were Juan Cruz Mallía, Gonzalo Bertranou, Joel Sclavi, Tomás Albornoz and Santiago Cordero.
Albornoz had excellent conversion accuracy, scoring points in six of the tries scored by his team.
