Correo Argentino: union members assure that the company makes profits and has a surplus

After the Government made it official that it will move forward with the deregulation of the postal service, the unions came out to reject the measure announced by the presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni. Given the justifications of the ruling party, the general secretary of the Federation of Postal and Telecommunications Workers and Employees (FOECyT), Alberto Cejasassured that the company “It has already started to have profits, it has now started to have a surplus“.

According to Decree 1005/2024, published by the administration of Javier Milei, the measure seeks to “promote free competition and elimination of bureaucratic decisions that restrict the supply of goods and services“However, Cejas defended the position of the employees and the company and stated that the decision does not seek to strengthen the company “but on the contrary, it intends to lower it to deliver it cheaper.”

Privatization of Correo Argentino: the company claims that they have a surplus

The government of Javier Milei seeks to advance with its model of privatization and deregulation in a new sector. This time, the policies of the Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, seek to liberalize postal activity and privatize the Correo Argentino company.

After learning of the Government’s announcement, Cejas strongly crossed Milei’s star minister and explained: “What I don’t understand about the Government is that if it really wants to privatize it, with the effort that the workers have made, in two months, via voluntary withdrawals, this company has already made profits“.

Furthermore, the union member denounced: “There is no attempt to strengthen it, but on the contrary, HE intends to lower it to deliver it cheaper. “As of August, the company is producing a surplus.”

On the other hand, Cejas also assured that “Argentine market has been deregulated for 30 years“. “It is not true that it added operators to the market, there were only two or three. If you look at the Enacom website, there are 1,400 registered service providers and we don’t even know how many are clandestine.”

Regarding the data given by Sturzenegger in a long post on the social network X, Cejas denied what was shared by the official. “The Argentine Mail is capturing and distributing in 3.5 million packages per month. The truth is that I honestly don’t know where the data comes from or is it a staging for subsequent privatization”.

“These companies that come to set up shop to do mail business, They are only going to do it in big cities, but in places that are not profitable they are not going to go.“, warned the general secretary of FOECyT in reference to a possible privatization.
