Two real reinforcements are on the doorstep at FC Blau-Weiss Linz. Salzburg central defender Christoph Schösswendter (33) has played a total of 168 Bundesliga games for Rapid, Altach, Admira and Austria Wien. In the summer, his contract with the Violets was not renewed. Now he is probably moving to Linz today because Bernhard Janeczek will leave the blue and whites in the summer and an adequate replacement is therefore needed.
Striker Paul Mensah may well have noticed that moving from Kapfenberg to Romanian first division side FC Botosani in the summer wasn’t the best idea after all. Now the player from Ghana really wants to go to Austria. Mensah had previously scored 16 goals for Kapfenberg and was considered one of the best second division strikers. Blau-Weiss head of sport Tino Wawra: “Mensah is a player you simply have to take in the second division if you get the chance. He can really make a difference with us.” Today the blue and whites are testing against FC Wels.
New additions already there
At SV Ried, newcomers Josef Weberbauer (GAK) and Robin Ungerath (Burghausen) are already involved in today’s friendly against FC Juniors OÖ. The game in the old Rieder Stadium will take place without spectators. Yesterday, LASK completed its first units in the training camp in Belek with wonderful weather and lawn conditions. (rawa)
