Russian Daniil Medvedev reached the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open (Australian Open), beating the Dutch Botik Van de Zandshulp in the third round.
The meeting lasted 1 hour and 57 minutes and ended with the score 6:4, 6:4, 6:2. The next opponent of the Russian will be the winner of the confrontation between Australian Christopher O’Connell and American Maxim Cressy.
President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) Shamil Tarpishchev noted that almost throughout the entire match, Medvedev looked stronger than the Dutchman.
“The Dutchman competed only in the second serve. In other elements, Danya was stronger and played tight on the back line. In principle, Medvedev had a clear advantage. From the point of view of the result, 3:0 is natural. Didn’t lose the innings. And he was stronger in almost all elements. Medvedev is getting in shape,” Tarpishchev told SE.
According to him, while Medvedev is playing in the optimal mode, the main thing for him is not to relax and play from the first point to the end, as he knows how.
On January 18, Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev defeated Italian Gianluca Mager in the first round match of the Australian Open. The meeting ended with the score 6:3, 6:2, 6:2 in favor of the Russian.
