Sophie Turner is almost ready for the lead role in the upcoming TV series amazon, tomb Raider based on the popular video game as confirmed by the Variety portal.

The deal is not yet completely closed, they say, but it is expected to close soon. Turner will play the lead role of Lara Croft, the tomb raider for whom the show is named.


Amazon greenlit the program earlier this year and Phoebe Waller-Bridge will write and executive produce it under its overall deal with Amazon. The streaming service was first reported to be in development in January 2023.

Turner is the latest high-profile actress to take on the role of Croft, who appeared in the popular “Tomb Raider” video game series. The globe-trotting adventuress had previously been played on screen in two films. Angelina Jolie and in another of Alicia Vikander.
Turner is best known for playing Sansa Stark in the series HBO Game of Thrones throughout the eight seasons that the program lasted. She received an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for the show in 2019. She is also known for her role as Jean Gray in the subsequent Fox X-Men films, namely X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Most recently, he starred in the ITV/CW miniseries Joan and the limited series of Max The Staircase.
The series tomb Raider is being developed under a pact between Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios that comes through dj2’s first-look deal with the studio to develop additional “Tomb Raider” stories into series and films.
