Davis Cup: Nadal plays first singles against Netherlands
Rafael Nadal did it. The Spanish tennis titan is fit in time for the Davis Cup. Will it be his last appearance?
The Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal plays the first singles in the quarter-finals of the Davis Cup against the Netherlands. The 22-time Grand Slam tournament winner will meet Botic van de Zandschulp in Malaga from 5 p.m. For Nadal it is the first official game since his second round exit at the Olympic Games in Paris against the Serbian Novak Djokovic. Nadal (38) will end his career after the Davis Cup Finals.
Due to numerous injuries, the Mallorcan had hardly played in the past two years. There has been a state of emergency in Malaga for days because of Nadal’s departure. Until recently it was unclear whether Nadal would be fit in time for the final round. In the second singles, Carlos Alcaraz and Tallon Griekspoor face each other.
