Russian biathlete Alexander Loginov apologized for the course of the third stage of the men’s relay at the World Cup in Antholz, Italy. In a conversation with reporters on January 23, the athlete explained that he was “a little climate.”
On Sunday, the Russian men’s biathlon team took second place in the relay at the World Cup. In first place was the Norwegian team, which completed the relay without penalty loops. The top three was closed by the German team.
During the competition, Loginov took the baton on the third lap, 13 seconds behind Norway and increased it to 1 minute 25 seconds. In doing so, he expended five extra rounds of shooting.
“Today is the fifth or sixth day of being in the mountains. I have a little climate, and this affects the shooting. Not functional, namely breathing, shooting. I want to apologize that my stage was not the most successful, ”said Loginov.
According to him, it is a little easier for Norwegian athletes at the moment, since they spend two weeks in the mountains at an altitude of more than 1.8 thousand meters.
However, Russian Eduard Latypov, who also participated in the race and had to run a penalty loop on the first shooting range due to a large number of misses, said that he tried to work out the second lap as much as possible.
“After the prone penalty loop, I realized that all was not lost. I tried to work out the second round to the maximum. Went above the set pace. I flew to the line while standing very quickly, risked as best I could, and in general everything turned out well. At the finish lap I gave all my strength to the fight, ”said the athlete.
At the same time, Latypov assured that functionally he feels well. Now, according to him, it remains to remove the shortcomings, and everything will be fine.
“I didn’t have competitive practice for a month, partly because of this I could lose my shooting. In training, everything turns out well, but I haven’t shot with such a pulse for a long time, ”concluded the Russian.
The day before, the men’s mass start took place as part of the seventh stage of the World Cup. Latypov after the first shooting was in the group of leaders, but on the second firing line he made four misses at once and dropped out of the fight. As a result, the victory was won by the German biathlete Benedikt Doll, the Sport-Express newspaper wrote.
