The designated dates are May 2, August 15 and November 21 and this decision is part of the powers granted to the Executive by Law 27,399, which regulates the regime of national holidays and non-working days in Argentina.
Article 1 of the decree establishes verbatim: “The following dates are established as non-working days for tourist purposes, provided for in article 7 of Law No. 27,399: YEAR 2025: May 2, August 15 and November 21 “. The regulations were signed by President Javier Milei and Minister Guillermo Francos, and will come into force from the day after its publication.
The Government highlighted that the measure seeks to strengthen tourism activity, one of the key sectors for national economic development. In the foundations of the decree, it was highlighted that the decision aims to distribute tourism throughout the year, counteracting the seasonality that affects the sector.
According to the text, “this faculty becomes a policy aimed at promoting internal tourism in the Argentine Republic” and added that these specific dates are designed to generate economic benefits in tourist destinations throughout the country.
Likewise, it was mentioned that the selected days strategically coincide with Monday or Friday to encourage long weekend getaways.
The decree refers to article 7 of Law 27,399, which grants the Executive the power to set up to three non-working days per year for tourism purposes. Also, article 6 of the same law is mentioned, which regulates the transfer of national holidays that coincide with weekdays to optimize their economic impact.
In this sense, it is recalled that article 99, paragraph 1 of the National Constitution, grants the President the power to dictate regulations within the scope of his jurisdiction. The text also highlights that this decision is supported by the Ministries Law No. 22,520, which confers on the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers the powers related to holidays and acts of a patriotic nature.
The Government hopes that the provision will contribute significantly to the growth of domestic tourism, encouraging Argentines to travel within the country and boosting regional economies. In previous years, similar measures proved to be effective in mobilizing millions of people and generating income in sectors such as hospitality, gastronomy and transportation.
