The red-white-red medal set was completed yesterday by Madeleine Egle, who won her first European Championships individual medal with silver, 0.155 seconds behind the German Olympic champion Nathalie Geisenberger. With podium finishes in the last eight of twelve competitions and victory at the start of the season at the Olympic dress rehearsal in Yanqing, Egle finished second in the overall standings behind Germany’s Julia Taubitz. The 23-year-old only suffered a slight setback in the final team relay in St. Moritz, in which she missed the mat when crossing the finish line. “Of course, the anger after my mistake in the season is great, but I have to put up with it,” said Egle.
