Gold in Finland: Curling men win European title
The German curling men won European Championship gold in Finland with a win against the defending champions. Winning the title ends a long dry spell.
The German curling men are again number one in Europe after 20 years. Skip Marc Muskatewitz’s team won the European Championship final 9-7 against defending champions and record champions Scotland in Lohja, Finland. The last major title in the men’s division was in 2004. Back then, Sebastian Stock led the German crew to victory at the European Championships in Bulgaria.
National coach Uli Kapp’s team had already booked their ticket for next year’s World Cup in Canada during the tournament. It’s also about qualifying for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. The last time German curlers took part in the Olympics was in Sochi in 2014.
