Tennis star Sinner leads Italy into the Davis Cup final
Last year’s winner is reaching for the title again. The Italian tennis players move into the final duel for the Davis Cup. The conqueror of Germany is waiting there as an opponent.
The Italian tennis team led by world number one Jannik Sinner has reached the final of the Davis Cup. The two-time Grand Slam tournament winner Sinner got the decisive second point in the semi-final against Australia with a 6:3, 6:4 against Alex de Minaur. Matteo Berrettini had previously won against Thanasi Kokkinakis 6:7 (6:8), 6:3, 7:5 in Malaga, Spain, giving Italy a 1-0 lead.
Defending champions Italy will face the Netherlands in the final on Sunday, after defeating the German team 2-0 on Friday. Germany missed its first final in 31 years without world number two Alexander Zverev, who decided not to take part in the prestigious team competition for reasons of regeneration.
