The Organizing Committee of the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Chinese authorities have adapted their Covid-19 countermeasures shortly before the start of the Games and consequently slightly relaxed them to “further adapt to the reality of the current environment and to support the participants of the Games”. it by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Accordingly, the required Ct value is reduced from 40 to 35.
Anyone with a Ct of less than 35 on the PCR test after landing at Beijing airport or any of the following daily tests will be considered tested positive and placed in an isolation facility. Anyone aged 35 or above is treated as a contact and must avoid close contact for seven days and take two PCR tests a day. So far, you have been considered a contact person for fourteen days.
In Austria, a Ct value of 30 already applies in order to be considered no longer infectious and to be released from quarantine. It can sometimes take weeks for the Ct value to rise to 40, for example, and for some people who have just recovered, the values fluctuate over a longer period of time.
Olympians who test positive are allowed to return to their quarters after ten days of isolation if they have no symptoms and the Ct value has been 35 or higher for three consecutive days. You are considered a contact person for seven days. Anyone who has a Ct value below 35 for a much longer period of time should be able to return home. The exact guidelines are only being worked out.
