The elected president, Yamandu Orsiand the president of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pouwill meet in the next few hours to begin the transition of power.

Lacalle Pou was the first leader to recognize the victory of the Broad Front, which won by 49.80% of the votes over his former Secretary of the Presidency and friend, Alvaro Delgado (45.84%). He did so by telephone minutes after the pollsters’ quick counts showed an irreversible trend in favor of the former mayor of Cannelloni.
The president had already given signals when voting mid-morning on Sunday that he expected a quick and orderly transition, whether Orsi or Delgado triumphed. He stressed that, as of this Monday, he was willing to reach a consensus on decisions that must be made and that affect the future.
