Spartak commented on the situation with the boycott of matches by fans

Football club “Spartak” is aware of the position of fan associations regarding the boycott of matches due to Fan ID. This was announced on Monday, January 24, by the head of the press service of the club, Dmitry Zelenov.

“The club is aware of the position of fan associations. Of course, this situation does not cause anything but frustration. Spartak fans are the best in Russia, their support is very important for the team,” he told Sport-Express.

Zelenov noted that fans have the right to express their position in this way and draw attention to the problem.

On January 24, fans of the Spartak and Zenit football clubs decided to boycott the matches of the Russian Football Championship and any other tournaments that can only be entered with a Fan ID.

Fans of Spartak noted that they refuse to “accept the imposed rules” and the boycott will last until the law is completely repealed.

In turn, the fans of “Zenith” called innovations “opaque, repressive and redundant.”

On December 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on Fan ID for fans.

Amendments were made to the federal law “On Physical Culture and Sports in the Russian Federation” in terms of introducing a system for identifying spectators. According to the document, the concept of “personalized card for visiting a sports competition” is introduced. Spectators of competitions need to obtain an electronic document that will allow them to identify the fan.

To obtain a passport, a fan must submit an application on the public services portal. At the same time, it will be possible to appeal against the refusal to issue a FAN ID or the decision to suspend its validity in court.

The law is expected to come into force on June 1, 2022.

On November 16, the State Duma emphasized that this bill was adopted with the aim of ensuring the security of the state, public safety and order.
