Proceedings against Linz police officers dropped, ex-manager partially exonerated

The senior official is said to have “turned a blind eye” to ice hockey VIP tickets for traffic fines. Whatsapp messages between the traffic policeman and former Black Wings manager Christian Perthaler would have indicated. The Black Wings discovered these chats and filed a complaint about a year ago, the police officer was suspended from duty a few days later. The accusation of abuse of office, corruption and violation of official secrecy could not be confirmed by the WKStA “due to lack of verifiability”. The procedure is therefore discontinued, as the police officer’s lawyer, Manfred Arthofer, confirmed to OÖN yesterday. It remains unclear how the police’s internal disciplinary proceedings against the officer will end.

Perthaler partially relieved

As reported, the Black Wings broke up in 2020 between the then club president Peter Freunschlag and Perthaler. The latter was dismissed. The mudslinging resulted in a barrage of mutual complaints. Perthaler was investigated for breach of trust and embezzlement. The procedure was discontinued yesterday in some points. According to the prosecution, the ex-manager is said to have “embezzled” 4,000 euros in club assets in addition to the unauthorized issue of VIP cards and accreditations. This amount is said to come from the sale of used equipment.
