It remains exciting: Liren and Gukesh draw again
Even duel in Singapore: In the fourth game of the World Chess Championship, neither challenger Dommaraju Gukesh nor world champion Ding Liren can gain an advantage.
In the fourth game of the World Chess Championship, 18-year-old Dommaraju Gukesh from India and reigning world champion Ding Liren (32) from China agreed to a draw. An official offer for a draw may only be made after 40 moves have been played. After a balanced game, both players moved their kings to the center of the chessboard and shook hands after the 42nd move. Both players receive 0.5 points for the draw, making the overall score 2:2.
A total of 14 games will be played at the World Chess Championship
Both players won one of the previous three games and another ended in a draw. The fifth game, in which Gukesh starts with the white pieces, takes place on Saturday.
The world chess champion will be determined in 14 games. For winning a game, a player gets one point; for a draw, both opponents get half a point. The player who is the first to collect 7.5 points is the chess world champion and receives the majority of the prize money of 2.5 million dollars (around 2.37 million euros). If there is a draw after 14 games, a tiebreak in rapid chess decides.
