The development of BVB jewel Youssoufa Moukoko has stagnated a bit recently – his advisor is now even bringing a possible farewell into play.
Storm jewel Youssoufa Moukoko could leave Borussia Dortmund after his contract expires in the summer of 2023. His advisor Patrick Williams confirmed to the imagenewspaper that there is currently dissatisfaction with the 17-year-old’s deployment times.
“It’s not a matter of course that Youssoufa is extending BVB,” the newspaper quoted Williams as saying. Despite Moukoko’s age, there seemed to be hope in the top talent’s camp that he could play a bigger role this season.
“Yes, he has been thrown back a bit by injuries this season. Yes, the competition at BVB is of course big. But,” said Williams, adding: “Of course we’re thinking about what’s best for the future is.”
Moukoko youngest Bundesliga player ever
Moukoko celebrated his Bundesliga debut in November 2020, just one day after his 16th birthday, making him the youngest professional to ever appear in the German upper house. Previously there had been a real hype about him because of his achievements in the youth field. He scored 141 goals in 88 games for BVB’s U17s and U19s.
But since his professional debut, Moukoko has been plagued by injuries. First, a ligament injury in the final stages of the preseason put him out of action, most recently he was out with a torn muscle fiber. Last weekend he celebrated his comeback after two months of downtime in an away win at TSG Hoffenheim.
But since Moukoko rarely got a chance to play, even when he was in full fitness, his entourage is now thinking about changes. “Of course, many clubs are interested in Youssoufa, that’s no secret. The end of his contract in the summer of 2023 is getting closer, the top clubs have that on the list,” said Williams.
