A report about a car trip by Bayern professional Alphonso Davies caused a stir. Coach Vincent Kompany comments on the incident on TV.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany has confirmed that his player Alphonso Davies drove under the influence of alcohol. The 24-year-old “made a mistake and he knows my opinion about it,” said Kompany in response to a question on Sky broadcaster before the top game in the Bundesliga at Borussia Dortmund.
The “Bild” newspaper had previously reported that Davies was checked by the police in Munich on Thursday night. There were reports of a breath alcohol level just above the permitted limit, but there is no confirmation of this.
Davies was fundamentally “a boy who did everything, everything right,” said Kompany. “He made a mistake and we will discuss it internally.” Kompany nominated the winger for the starting eleven for the game at BVB. He didn’t have to “punish the whole team,” said Kompany.
