The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, continues to strengthen his agenda within the framework of his first official visit to Uruguay, where he will arrive on the occasion of the summit of the Mercosur, an event that will take place between Thursday and Friday in Montevideo.

In addition to participating for the first time in the regional bloc event, since in July he had decided to be absent, Milei confirmed his attendance as an “honorary speaker” at the traditional working lunch of the Association of Marketing Leaders (ADM), as confirmed by the organization.

The appointment will be next Friday from 12 at Radisson Hotel and the libertarian reference is expected to provide definitions on economic matters, which will occur in the middle of the president’s last Mercosur summit Luis Lacalle Pou and also within the framework of the transition that will lead to the president-elect Yamandu Orsi to power on March 1, 2025.

Speculation about Milei and Orsi’s relationship

It is worth noting that the Argentine president did not congratulate Orsi directly, but rather through a retweeted message from the Chancellery, where he greeted “the Uruguayan people for their exemplary civic day” and ratified the “commitment to work together to strengthen the shared agenda and the well-being of both countries.”

However, they met weeks later in Argentina at a meeting where the government of that country confirmed “the fantastic relationship” between the two.

Although in recent hours the libertarian threatened to break with Mercosur, his government took measures in harmony with the Uruguayan government, such as authorizing dredging 14 meters from the Port of Montevideo and the open skies agreement.
