“The Two Mariettes”, the film by a survivor of Nazism, arrives on platforms

Next Sunday, December 8, it will premiere in DIRECTV and DGO the movie The two Mariettesa documentary that reviews the life of Mariette Diamanta survivor of Nazism who fought for more than 70 years to be able to tell secrets that he kept hidden for fear of persecution.

This is the third film by the Argentine director. Poli Martínez Kaplun on issues of Trauma, identity and transgenerational pain since Argentine immigration.

Mariette Diamant He arrived with his parents at Argentina escaping Nazism and lived his entire life with the pain of hiding secrets and only now dares to reveal them.

When he was a teenager, his mother confessed his family’s Jewish identity to him. For Mariette It was a revealing episode but contradictory to his present: he had a harsh Catholic upbringing and even got married in the Church of Socorro.

With her work, the director Poli Martínez Kaplun becomes a transmitter thread to accompany Mariettewho wanted to reveal testimony about a “secret that contained trauma and stigmatization.”

The two Marietteswhich took place at the 38th edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival, is the story of the reconstruction of a buried family memory.

The documentary was produced by Lifestories, an independent film company created by Martínez Kaplun together with Lucas Werthein and Carlos Winograd. This company was also in charge of films such as Mira Leave Their Mark (2016), which features two women survivors of Auschwitz, and The House of Wannsee (2019), which tells how the director of the film herself goes in search of the roots of his Jewish family.
