The RAE renews its digital version and adds more than 4,000 updates to the dictionary: frapé, rap, comfort zone

Royal Spanish Academy: more than 4,000 additions in the new edition of the dictionary

The RAE is the most recognized institution worldwide in regards to the queries and definitions of the Spanish language. That is why its new update does not go unnoticed since it reflects the constant transformation of the language, incorporating neologisms and foreign words that have made a place in daily life in recent years.

The RAE released its version 23.8 of the Spanish language dictionary.

New terms included include: “spoiler” and “granularity”. Complex forms such as “health center”, “mobile unit”, “punishment vote” or “comfort zone”.

The added words go through all areas and, in the scientific field, voices such as “aerothermal” were added. For its part, expressions such as “dana” or “microbiome“.

The musical field also has new definitions with terms like “bluesman“, “rapping”, “groupie” and “indie”. In this way, the RAE and the 23 Spanish language academies that participate in the Spanish language dictionary guarantee a tool with a pan-Hispanic perspective, perfect for Argentine readers and throughout Latin America.

A new digital image

In addition to the renewed content, the Spanish language dictionary released a more intuitive and attractive image in its digital version. In this way, the word search engine now occupies a central place on the web, making it easier to locate terms.

In another of its changes, the cover also highlights the key sections of the work, offers links to auxiliary tools and maintains the classic “word of the day”, a nod to those who seek to learn something new with each visit.

The new visual organizationwith a larger font size for the main entry, adds labels and shortcuts that seek to simplify user navigation. Finally, links to mobile applications for iOS and Android devices were also included, allowing more agile and versatile use of the dictionary from anywhere through smartphones.
