Defeat in comeback
Mike Tyson no longer remembers fight against Jake Paul
Mike Tyson got into the ring again for a fight against social media star Jake Paul. The boxer’s memories of the comeback are very rudimentary.
Before his fight against Jake Paul, Mike Tyson was making big noises. The former boxing world champion said he would “knock out the influencer brilliantly”. The reality in the ring, however, was completely different. Tyson took a beating and lost significantly on points.
Apparently the hits Tyson took had a lasting impact. “I can’t remember the fight anymore,” the 58-year-old told “Fox Sports Radio”: “I somehow lost my memory.” His memory only goes back to a scene at the beginning of the fight: “I came back after the first round and Jake did something like a bow. That’s the last thing I remember.”
Mike Tyson clearly lost to Jake Paul
Some fans and experts were already worried about the boxing icon’s health before the comeback fight. After all, Tyson was up against an opponent who was more than 30 years younger. Before he took part in an exhibition fight in 2020, he had not been in the ring for 15 years.
After the fight, Tyson himself revealed how bad his health was before. “I almost died in June. I had eight blood transfusions. I lost half of my blood and 25 pounds in the hospital,” he wrote on the X platform. He considers the fact that he was even able to take part in the fight as a victory.
High fee for the ex-boxing world champion
The former world champion’s comeback failed, Tyson’s strength and stamina were not sufficient – the fight had already been reduced from the normal twelve to eight rounds, and they only lasted two minutes instead of three. Tyson paid well for the appearance, which was broadcast by streaming giant Netflix, with a fee equivalent to around 19 million euros.
In the current interview with “Fox Sports Radio” he also emphasized that he did not suffer from any health problems after the defeat: “I was neither tired nor sweaty. After the fight I went back to the house where we live and then with went to the afterparty with my wife and kids.”
