Unusual urine sample from Chelsea’s professional footballer Mudryk
The Ukrainian Mychajlo Mudryk is contacted by the responsible association because of an abnormal urine sample. The professional rejects doping allegations.
Ukrainian international Mychajlo Mudryk has been contacted by the English Football Association (FA) because of an abnormal finding in a routine urine sample. His club, Chelsea FC, said the 23-year-old had “categorically stated that he had never knowingly taken any banned substances.” Ukrainian media initially reported suspected doping.
“Both the club and Mychajlo fully support the FA’s testing program and all of our players, including Mychajlo, are tested regularly,” Chelsea said in a statement. The Ukrainian and also the club would now work with the responsible authorities “to clarify the cause of the unusual finding.”
Chelsea signed top talent Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for a transfer fee of up to 100 million euros. The Ukrainians should therefore receive 70 million euros and 30 million euros in possible bonus payments. The 23-year-old’s contract in London runs until summer 2031.
