The Argentine foreign minister, Gerardo Wertheindeclared regarding the arrest of gendarme Nahuel Agustín Gallo in Venezuela. He questioned the regime Nicolas Maduro and highlighted that the Argentine crossed the border legally from Colombia.
In this way, during an interview, the official described the event as a “illicit kidnapping”. Then he pointed out that Gallo was traveling with official permission to visit his son and wife.
“He went on vacation to Colombia and crossed to Venezuela to visit his familyhe presented his passport, they stamped it and then they detained him,” the chancellor highlighted regarding the non-commissioned officer of the National Gendarmerie.
Likewise, he denounced that the Maduro regime has “hostage” Gallo, maintaining that they keep him in the worst conditions due to current tense relationship between Argentina and Venezuela.
In this regard, the chancellor mentioned that at the Argentine embassy in Caracas “we have snipers in frontall the streets blocked and difficulties in feeding the asylum seekers whose only crime was to politically dissent with the regime.”
Gerardo Werthein responded to Diosdado Cabello
While the Government denied Diosdado Hair and showed that the Argentine gendarme made only eight trips, Werthein was in charge of responding to the Venezuelan vice president.
In this way, he stated that Hair “does not tell the truth” when he claims that Gallo made frequent international trips and disqualified all types of accusations against Gallo.
“Dr. Bullrich presented the migration movements yesterday where they clearly show that The gendarme’s trips are to work at the Uspallata Pass and cross to Christ the Redeemer in Chile“said the Argentine foreign minister.
However, Werthein also demanded the immediate release of the Argentine gendarme and denounced the lack of guarantees in the Venezuelan judicial system: “Cabello says and does what he wants. Maybe accumulate hostages for some purpose.”
Furthermore, he warned that the human rights violations “sooner or later” they will have to be judged, and he emphasized that, according to his perspective, “justice will triumph”.
