After his first two seasons at PSG, Neymar wanted to return to Barca, but nothing came of it – despite a rumored mega offer.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian superstar Neymar has opened up about his failed return to FC Barcelona and the reasons behind his desire to join in 2019.
“When I made the decision to leave PSG, it wasn’t because of the supporters or the club,” Neymar said Netflix-Documentary “Neymar: The Total Chaos”. He added: “I’ve found that I feel better elsewhere.”
Neymar’s father, on the other hand, “didn’t want him to leave PSG”. Nevertheless, he did everything possible to make his son’s wish come true, “but it didn’t work out”.
Mega offer from Barca for Neymar?
According to a report by Sky Barca reached out for Neymar’s return at the time. But even a sum of 110 million euros plus Jean-Clair Todibo, Ivan Rakitic and a loan from Ousmane Dembele was not enough to persuade PSG to sell.
The Parisians took the now 29-year-old from Blaugrana in 2017 for €222m.
