Things are not going so well for the German biathletes at the moment. But in France the form curve is pointing upwards. However, the team performance remains mixed.

Biathlete Philipp Horn narrowly missed the first World Cup podium of his career at the start of the races in Le Grand-Bornand. The 30-year-old missed once, but was one of the fastest on the cross-country ski trail and ended up being the best German in fourth place. After ten kilometers, the Thuringian was 17.8 seconds behind third-placed Swede Sebastian Samuelsson (1 mistake).

The error-free Norwegian Martin Uldal celebrated his first World Cup success, relegating his teammate and record world champion Johannes Thingnes Bö (1 error) to second place by 1.4 seconds.

Philipp Nawrath also got a good starting position for the pursuit on Saturday (12.30 p.m./ARD and Eurosport), who also made it into the top ten in sixth place (1 error/+ 41.6 seconds). The other German starters Justus Strelow (0 errors), Johannes Kühn (2), Simon Kaiser (3) and Danilo Riehtmüller (4) played no role in the fight for the top places.
