Directors of the Association of Automotive Factories (ADEFA) met yesterday with the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, to analyze the performance of the automotive sector during 2024 and evaluate the prospects for next year.
At this meeting, both the results obtained during the year due to the impact of the measures implemented, as well as the challenges that arise in the medium and long term, were addressed.
The meeting was held at Ministry of Economy and had the participation of the main directors of the entity chaired by Martin Zuppi and representatives of automotive terminals.
During the meeting, Minister Caputo and the Secretary of Production Coordination, Pablo Lavignereceived a report on the sectoral balance that closes 2024 better than what was projected at the beginning of the year.
In this regard, Zuppi highlighted that “as a result of the joint work undertaken with the Government with a series of measures such as the Boprealthe modification of payment terms, no tariff on incremental exports, among others, allowed the sector to improve its performance and raise the volumes projected at the start of the year. All this allowed the addition of investment announcements for US$1,150 M, US$7,400 M for exports, and more than US$10,000 M in revenue.”
The sector will close the year 2024 with better volumes than projected. In the case of production in the order of 505,000 production units, 300,000 export units and 412,500 cars patented.
On the other hand, the terminal managers highlighted the joint work carried out throughout the year on an agenda to improve competitiveness and productivity with the aim of consolidating the export profile of the industry, encouraging new investments and expanding production and employment.
The first projections for 2025 are optimistic. “In a first scenario, all the indicators of the main variables show growth in relation to 2024 and clearly this behavior can be enhanced by measures that are being worked on,” indicated the head of ADEFA.
The base scenario shows that 545,000 production units can be reached (+7/9%); 324,000 exports (+8%); and a domestic market of approximately 500,000 units with growth of more than 12% compared to 2024.
